STRENGTH
Squat, bench, deadlift, press. Twelve week blocks with progressive overload, a logbook at every rack and a coach who checks your depth.
742 Neon Boulevard, South Park, Los Angeles
A lifting gym in a former print shop, two blocks from Pico Station. 14 power racks, 54 coached classes a week, doors open around the clock. The sign out front has had one bad letter since day one.
01 / The gym
Opened in 2014 by two powerlifters who were tired of gyms that ban chalk.
NEONFIT sits in the old Alvarado print shop on Neon Boulevard. The concrete floor that once carried offset presses now carries 14 power racks and six deadlift platforms, and nobody downstairs complains when a bar hits the ground.
The lights stay low, the signs stay on and members badge in at any hour. Chalk is allowed, so is loud music before 10 PM. Every new member gets a 45 minute walk-through with a coach before the first solo session.
02 / Training
Four tracks, all included from the Pro plan up. Pick a panel.
Squat, bench, deadlift, press. Twelve week blocks with progressive overload, a logbook at every rack and a coach who checks your depth.
45 minutes in Studio B: sleds, bikes, slam balls. Work and rest intervals run on the wall timer, heart rate zones on the screen.
Flow in the morning, yin at night, mobility resets in between. Built for lifters with tight hips and desk shoulders, mats provided.
A new workout on the whiteboard every day on the 40 yard turf lane. Scaled options for each movement, scores logged if you want them.
03 / Timetable
Live against the gym clock. Running classes are marked, the next one counts down.
Book in the member app up to 7 days ahead. Cancel at least 2 hours before the start or the spot counts as used. Full classes keep a waitlist of 5.
04 / Tool
Enter a set you actually finished. We estimate your max and the loads for your next block.
Epley formula: weight x (1 + reps / 30). Most accurate between 2 and 8 reps. Do not test a true single without a spotter, ask any coach on the floor.
| % | Load | Use it for | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 95 | 250 lb | Heavy single | |
| 85 | 225 lb | 5 x 5 top set | |
| 75 | 195 lb | Volume, 4 x 8 |
05 / Coaches
Three head coaches, on the floor six days a week. No sales quotas, no commission on supplements.
Co-founder. Eleven years of coaching, NSCA certified, still competes in the 220 lb class. Will film your squat and show you the frame where it goes wrong.
Ran the 400 m hurdles at UCLA, then spent four years coaching collegiate sprinters. Programs every interval class herself and posts the plan on Sunday night.
RYT-500 yoga teacher who started as a lifter with a bad back. Eight years of fixing hips, ankles and overhead positions so the barbell work holds up.
06 / Floor cams
Six views of the floor. Hover a feed to bring the colour back.
07 / Membership

08 / Members
Unedited, from the member survey in March.
I came in to lose weight and ended up caring about my deadlift. Marcus had me pulling from blocks for a month before I touched the floor. Down 30 lbs, up to a 315 pull, and I have not missed a Monday since.
The HIIT classes here are no joke. I have tried most gyms downtown and none of them post the plan ahead of time the way Sarah does. I know on Sunday what Thursday will cost me.
I was intimidated by gyms, and a dark room full of racks did not help. The walk-through on day one did. Someone showed me every machine and nobody tried to sell me anything.
09 / Contact
Your first session is free and comes with a coach for the full hour.
Drop by while the front desk is staffed, or send a message and we will call back the same day to set up your walk-through.
